TEPUY AUTANA / AMAZONAS

Amazon has a huge variety of scenarios haunting visual impact and unique attraction is a space where time seems to have stopped, offering to the delight of our senses, a generous reservoir of exuberant wealth, beauty and life.
Second in terms of territory of the Republic of Venezuela, with the lowest population density and the highest rate of indigenous people, this state exhibits an ancient ethnic and cultural diversity, which must be conserved as a heritage of Venezuela and humanity. The main indigenous groups in the State are: Yanomami, Piaroa, Guahibos, Ye'kwana, MacOS, Bare, Maquiritares, Curripaco Yeral, Yekuana.

1 - Description of Trip:

THE AUTANA
Millions of years ago during the Precambrian era inferior, emerged from the bowels of the Guiana Shield in Venezuela's Amazon jungle, the mighty Tepuy Autana, a massive quartz sandstone ... about 1,300 feet. Autana Piaroa voice which means sacred mountain, is one of 20 tepuyes found in Amazonas state. Located east of the Orinoco River, between the rivers and Autana Sipapo this unique natural monument tepuy was declared in 1978.
The tepui Autana is a large rock formation isolated tabular form precipitous walls and ceiling almost flat, formed from the massive erosion cycles or Venezuelan Guayana Shield, one of the oldest geological formations on the planet. At its top, the Autana is traversed from end to end, by a den of nearly four feet long made up entirely of quartzite rocks.
For Wothuja (indigenous Piaroa), residents of the territory where stands the Cerro Autana and river basins Sipapo Cuao, Autana and Guayapa, this imposing tepuy is a sacred symbol of life, the tree of life, which attributed all the fruits that have provided sustenance for human survival. Tepuy Autana: ancient geological relic of the Venezuelan Amazon, mythical guardian of the mysteries of the Piaroa.

The basis of this Tepuy consists of a tropical rain forest. In its highlands and slopes the vegetation is recognized as very fragile and considerable endemism. Plants in the form of hammers and pads are very common to themselves and scrub forest with naked stems and plants at the upper leaves thick and rigid. Several types of carnivorous plants like the pitcher plant, gall and plant Drosera with glandular hairs that can trap insects. It was also found a mineral new to science.

2 - Itinerary: 052foto

Day 1: Arrival at the airport to Pto Ayacucho. Land Transfer to the port or Pto Samariapo Venado 1 hour drive between savanna and patches of rainforest and impressive granite rocks adorning the road. At this point we start navigating the Orinoco superb, pass by Mouse Island where we will enter Sipapo River, one of its tributaries, stopping for a picnic lunch on the banks of the stream of Cauldron in a small waterfall or a beach white sand. We continue sailing to enter the river mouth Autana where we stay in an indigenous community along the river Piaroa. Be shared with the Indians and the shaman of the community.

Day 2: Breakfast. There will be a jungle trek to the community of Mavaca Piaroa, know their community and the preparation of cassava. Continue to navigate to reach the Raudal of laziness or blindness to the stream of impressive Autana (this depends on river conditions winter / summer), where we enjoy a delicious bath in the rapids and lunch and evening dinner with a campfire . Overnight.

Day 3: Breakfast. In the morning we descend the river to the indigenous community of Raudal of Blindness Piaroa against Tepuy Autana. We have lunch and begin the ascent to the lookout point that is closest to tepuy a 4 hour hike (round trip, and is optional), the day stay overnight in the community of Raudal of Blindness.

Day 4: Breakfast. We will begin shipping in the port Samariao decline a lunch and enjoy a refreshing swim in the river on the beach Sipapo Tonina. Visiting indigenous communities. Spend the night on a beach of white sand in the tea-colored water of the river Sipapo, which will enjoy a nice dinner with campfire.

Day 5: Breakfast. Sipapo continue down the river to enter the great Orinoco and get to Pto de Venado Samariapo or where our vehicle will be waiting to ferry passengers to Pto Ayacucho for his return to Caracas.
